A laparoscopy is a surgery where two or three, 1cm or less, incisions are made on the abdomen. The surgeon looks inside the abdomen and pelvis with a camera. The surgery is generally performed to evaluate pain, perform sterilization, or to remove one or both ovaries without having to make a larger abdominal incision.

What to expect:
Laparoscopy is an outpatient surgery and requires no overnight stay. Women generally experience slight abdominal discomfort for a few days and are generally able to return to work in a couple of days.
